Lars Brownworth Lectures

For Discussing 12 Byzantine Rulers, Norman Centuries and the Lecture Tour.

Lars Brownworth Lectures

Postby Detlef on Thu Oct 29, 2009 7:46 pm

Tell me if you'd be interested in visiting a lecture by Lars Brownworth in San Fransisco, New York, Washington, Boston, Austin and/or Chicago. If enough people are interested the "fabulous Brownworth Brothers" (thanks to Mike for that phrase) will try to set up an event. The lectures will probably be held in Q1 2010.

A note for the people in the D.C. Area. There is an earlier lecture at the Smithsonian on December 2nd. I have no information about the availability of tickets.

I thought it was interesting when I found out Mike Duncan was living in the town I'd planned on moving to in Oregon. Then I laughed to myself when he got married on my birthday and announced he was moving to the city I currently live in, Austin, Texas. Now I hear the possibility of having Lars Brownworth coming here to lecture! Count me in. I would also be willing to spread the word, and post fliers at the University of Texas, of which I AM NOT A MEMBER. As Mike is no doubt finding out, in this town even if you don't go to UT, it's a big part of the city, for better or for worse ;)

The History of Rome podcast has been the catalyst for my own interest in Roman history, which has lead me to read many of the source materials drawn from the show. 12 Byzantine rulers was been equally engaging, and catalytic for that matter, just as the Norman series is shaping up to be. Thanks to you both for all the work and time you put in. It is much appreciated.

I definitely would go to one in Houston. You could put me down for 40% on Austin. I have friends up there i wouldn't mind visiting. For that matter, i have at least two friends, possibly more, that would almost certainly see Mr. Brownworth went to Austin, whether i was there or not.
